The TI-84 Plus has been integral to my students' success in the math classroom.
ActivInspire and the Promethean Board have been very useful to me in terms of annotating math problems.
How I use Google Classroom to ensure all students have access to my materials, notes, and announcements from the convenience of their school-provided Chromebooks.
The TI-84 plus has proved to be an invaluable piece of technology in my geometry classroom. While it could be argued that it weakens the students’ arithmetic skills seeing as it bypasses a student having to use his or her mental math faculties, I think it is has a vital role in all math teachers’ classrooms. It drastically speeds up the amount of time students spend on problems, meaning far more problems can be done in a class period. It also helps with graphing functions, which helps those students (including myself when I was one) who are not as adept at drawing and/or representing equations visually.
The Promethean board, coupled with ActivInspire softare, are very useful tools since they allows me to manipulate both math equations and images on a big surface. Being able to mathematically annotate images has proven very useful in my geometry class since it spares me having to spend valuable time on drawing it on the whiteboard and spares the students with having to suffer through my horrendous picture representations of geometry concepts.
I also make sure to provide instructional math links on Google Classroom for students to access on their Chromebooks. These serve as added reinforcement to the lessons they’re receiving in class.
